Rug Hooking Magazine Launches Latest Celebration Competition
October 01 , 2017Northbrook, IL—Submissions for Rug Hooking magazine’s 28th edition of Celebration of Hand-Hooked Rugs was opened on October 1, 2017. Entrants from all over the world submit their finest rugs they’ve made in the past two years, and four expert judges rate the rugs on technique, color plan, and interpretation of design. The top rugs are selected to be featured in Rug Hooking magazine’s annual book, Celebration of Hand-Hooked Rugs, and have the opportunity to be featured at the annual rug hooking convention held in Sauder Village, Ohio every August. For the first time, this year’s contest features prize money for the top three rugs: $500 for 1st place, $250 for 2nd place, and $100 for 3rd place.
Celebration highlights the artistry, fine craftsmanship, and astonishing diversity of hand-hooked rugs produced in the past year in four categories: Adaptations, Commercial designs, Originals, and Primitives. Each rug that makes it into the book is featured in a two-page color spread with a picture of the rug, a story about the rug, and a biography about the rug hooker.
